David “Crockett” Farrow – Marine Support
Captain Farrow holds a 100 Ton USCG Master Mariners Certificate, and is also an avid and experienced diver. David was born and raised on Roanoke Island, North Carolina. He comes from a long background of area seafarers. David is a twelfth generation “Banker”, his family “arrived” in the area some time in the later 1600’s. Farrow’s ancestors donated land to the US government specifically for the original Cape Hatteras Lighthouse site. Two of his descendants later became keepers; Mr. Joseph Farrow and Farah Farrow were Keepers of Hatteras Light during the 1800’s.
David’s experience in North Carolina waters includes decades of experience in the recreational and commercial fishing industries, and well as a dive charter operations. Captain Farrow has always held a deep interest in North Carolina’s maritime history. As a benefit of his experience in North Carolina waters, he is uniquely qualified to assist the project. He holds more local knowledge of area shipwrecks than most watermen on the North Carolina Outer Banks. His experience and expertise will bring to the table a diverse and valuable skill set. He has maintained cooperative and constructive relationships with local Coast Guard, Marine Fisheries, historians, and other area resources. He is dedicated to promoting higher standards of resource management and protection. Captain Farrow is also a certified diver, and has participated in remote sensing work involving magnetometer and acoustic surveys. He has aided in the discovery of numerous offshore historic shipwreck sites, and has made many discoveries on his own. David is an asset to the project.
